I would luv to enter but, I do not reside in the 50 United States…this would have been fun.
Same here, unfortunately. Also I tend to get my teas in relatively small quantities because I’m afraid of them going stale.
I discussed this with the folks at Boston Tea Campaign and am in agreement with them. Properly stored tea will keep a very long time; up to 3 years. Tea traders will tell you the same thing. It takes months for processed tea to reach you from the gardens or the auctions.
The sellers are also warehousing their tea as well. I agree with this based on personal experience, I buy in bulk as often as I can because I drink a lot of tea. I’ll buy a pound of tea and keep most of it in my pantry in sealed containers while a working quantity is kept on my counter.
The quantities sold by tea sellers encourages you to think that your tea is perishable quickly – tea is not fresh, it is a dried product that will retain its flavor as long as you keep it dry, and stored in an airtight container. (there is some argument about light and see-through containers, but tins and foil bags suffice)

Some teas I am sure I could purchase in larger quantities because I would consume them but others are for either special occasions or not one of my favs…o.k. this is a challenge to other tea companies to step up to the plate and involve all of the Steepster community in the next contest…we’ll be waiting!
Ah, well. We non-US people will just have to wait for another opportunity… (looking hopefully at the Steepster Powers That Be….)
I’ll be looking into this – I am considering running a Britain-based promo, but I am waiting on a delivery from a tea company there before I pursue it.
I have also secured a promise from a tea retailer in India (whom I cannot name) who ships globally to sponsor a giveaway in February. But I need to examine the legal details with the lawyers.
The reason contests and giveaways are so often restricted is that Federal trade laws regarding contests and giveaways only protect us (and you, the consumer) from dispute within the US. In my case, disputes would be handled by the Commonwealth of Virginia, where our business is based. There is also the complexity of contest laws that are actually strange in some places.
However, given the international nature of the tea-drinking community I am working with my lawyers to determine a way to accomodate more expansive giveaways, or at least determine what a reasonable level of risk for me as a promoter to take along those lines. I hope to have an answer in the next several weeks.

I am in the US and have entered, with a pledge to share with others who are not eligible if I win :)
I’ve entered too, and will see what I can do about sharing with non-US Steepsterites if I win. :)
Thanks to all who have entered so far! For those who haven’t there are only 2 days left to enter… Come by and see what the buzz is about.
