The boxes keep getting better and better.
Love the Lapsang Souchong, I have been wanting to try one. The Moroccan Mint was the tea I wanted to really dig into. I love mint so it was a nice treat, but I think the mint over powered the green tea. I might have to steep it at a shorter time. The Yogic chai I have had before. It is nice to be able to come back to it. To test it against my Samovar chai and verdant chai I currently have.
I really enjoyed the Masala Chai from yogic tea. My 93 year old mom enjoyed a cup, my wife enjoyed a cup, and I enjoyed it too. We then ordered more. Yum!
I liked the Moroccan Mint quite a bit. It had a gently penetrating mint flavor balanced nicely by the tea. The Lapsang Souchong was a bit too smoky for me. I generally enjoy Lapsang Souchong, but this one was a bit too intense for me. I am really enjoying getting the boxes each month. It is a great way to try new teas.
I’ve tried all three teas and have my impressions in order.
I liked the Lapsang Souchong a lot, it was an intense and clean variety of the style. I think an oz is the perfect quantity of a tea like this to have, I would never drink it everyday, but it’s fantastic to have a bit on hand for the days when I’m craving something intense.
The chai was quite good as well, while taboo in the tea drinking world, I found that a splash of half-and-half was enough to create the perfectly balanced beverage.
I could never quite figure out an appropriate way to brew the Moroccan mint however. I tried it at 160, 165, 180, and 190, and could never find the right balance between the cool mint and the slightly smoky green tea.
I have not yet opened the chai or the Moroccan mint since these are two that I’ve tried previously … I have tried the Lapsang Souchong, and I was incredibly impressed with it. Given that I am not one who is generally thrilled with Lapsang Souchong, that should say something. It is definitely the best Lapsang that I’ve tried thus far.
