Suger, Milk or not?
The only thing I ever really add to my tea is honey, but that’s usually only with sour fruitier ones, or ones that I accidentally let steep too long…
The only thing I do is adding herbals into ripe pu erh (after it’s steeped several times).
I love plain tea, but I have to admit that going with your taste is the only way to happiness. If you love some milk with your tea, I say go for it.
I always have my matcha in the form of lattes. I don’t care for matcha by itself, but love when its combined in drinks and food.
For herbal teas, I add some stevia. For traditional Chinese teas, I do not add anything to preserve the quality and flavor of the blend. The exception is chai, which I fully mix with white sugar and cashew milk.
no milk, no sugar. I drink mainly sheng pu er and oolong. When I drink a good Darjeeling, they go without milk and sugar too.
Sugar for some of the flavored black teas I drink, because without it their fruity notes don’t come through much. But otherwise, just tea, thanks.
Depends on the tea! Some teas do taste better with a bit of sweetener and some teas need their astringency mellowed out with a dash of milk. I never use sugar in green tea but sometimes I’ll use agave if the tea needs just a little bit of something.
i was about to state that i never put milk in tea, and then i thought about it. i put cream in chai!
i put lemon in tea sometimes. i put lime in tea sometimes. if i don’t feel well, i put some lemon, honey and rum in tea – and head to bed as soon as i finish the cup! honey is good in tea, and so is turbinado. i try not to use those because of blood sugar issues.
i am pretty much a creature of mood. until i realize that there is a pattern. i don’t tend to sweeten green tea, particularly if it is served in a small cup. otherwise, i keep my options open.
