Teapot people - which clay for which tea?
I never got round to buying a teapot, but now I want some.
I guess that Chao Zhou is a good clay to aim for Dan Cong, but any other ideas about what teas work well in what clays?
I am particularly interested in sheng puerh or fenghuang, but any info is good info :)
I just know there is difference between black tea and green tea. But any other types of teapot I don’t know. Any suggestions for black tea brewing?

i’ve seen quite a few nice pots for not toooo bad price now. I also really like the idea of brewing wuyi in da hong pao clay. It sounds such a perfect mix :)

Another thing to consider would be buying a clay boiler. Which will have more affect on your brew, the material of your pot, or the material of your boiler? I’m not really sure, but common sense tells me that the boiler material would have more effect.
Edit: Of course, this comment assumes you are interested in buying a clay pot to improve the brew of your tea. In my estimation, most clay pots are bought for other reasons.

In retrospect, the fact that I have so many clay pots yet took so long to buy a clay boiler tells you something about why I really bought most of my clay pots, methinks. I intended to compare the clay boiler to a metal electric kettle I have and see how it affects the brew. I will make sure to post the results, and link them to this thread.
You can use covered bowl to brewing sheng puerh, it’s easy to control the water temperature. But if the age of the tea is about 5-8 years, you should use Yixing purple clay wares.
I don’t know much, still a newbie, but I do think Jianshui does wonders for young sheng.
Personally I use Yixing Zi ni (the dark purple one) clay for shu pu erh, and a harder type like qing shui ni, zhu ni or da hong pao for Sheng pu erh to avoid muddying the brighter tasting notes out.
