Pros and Cons of the 52 Teas Subscription

I have read a lot about 52 Teas on this site. After reading some rave reviews I decided to check out their site. I found a lot of interesting blends and information on their subscription program.

I figured before I took the plunge and subscribed, I would try to get some feedback here.
Has anyone subscribed to 52 Teas and if so, what do you think?

Hi – I’m probably not the person you want input from – but I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to shoot me a message – either here or privately. Thank you for the post!

Thanks for the response. You are right. I was hoping tot hear from some other posters here. Just not sure if I want to commit to a subscription or do the random order thing. I have read many positive review on your tea (the latest being one on a banana pudding tea that you don’t appear to stock any more).
The subscription does look like a neat way to try random teas though.

Yes, because of our business model – we make a new tea every week – we don’t keep every tea we make in stock – we usually only make enough tea for the subscription and then for some one-off sales. If we tried to keep every tea in stock – we’d soon run out of room to house the inventory. We have just started a ‘permanent’ tea line called D’s Teas (it’s also available on our website) where we sell our best selling teas. Right now, we just have three teas – but will eventually have a few more.

That’s one of the reasons, I think, that the subscription is the way to go (I used to be a customer before we took over 52Teas and I was a subscriber) – because you get to try the different flavors before they sell out.

I subscribed to 52Teas under the new ownership for a year. My subscription has ended, but I plan to subscribe again one day. Hopefully, our dollar will cooperate with my wishes.

I found myself liking teas that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise tried. I also found myself losing my mind making multiple purchases as a result. There were a few misses for me too, but overall, 52Teas is a creative and talented teameister, who makes every effort to deliver a quality product, and I like supporting her efforts.

I am so glad you responded…it was YOUR tea review (the banana pudding) that inspired me to check out the 52 Teas website :)

I have been trolling Harney and Sons and spending way too much $$. Their $2-4.00 samples have been very tempting. The 52 Teas reviews usually are positive too. It’s too bad that they don’t seem to stock all these wonderful blends (but I realize the idea is for them to keep coming up with new ones).

I really appreciate your input. Now I am leaning towards at least doing the 3 month subscription.

Maybe after tonight’s fireworks are over, I’ll have made a decision :)

Hth. I would suggest doing a 6 month subscription if possible. Because teas tend to be mostly seasonal, now you’ll be getting more of the fruity blends whereas in fall/winter, there will be more chai, apple, and chocolate and toffee types of things. Generally, but not always. Six months will give you more of an overview which you might not get in three months. Mind you, I am of the opinion that regarding tea, more is more. Self control is not a strong point.

You are correct, though – I do tend to focus seasonally when it comes to the tea blends. I tend to do the fruity selections in the summer and then as fall comes around, I start thinking about chai blends, apple, pumpkin – Spring and summer tend to be more fruity – while autumn and winter tend to be more savory. Not always – I don’t hold steadfast to this rule, but you’ll find more often than not it’s the way I work.
