The Great Adventure!!!
Hey everyone!
I originally created this “Profile/Instagram”, for a few years back I was consistently traveling, exploring, and sharing great tea with people from all over; however, due to life situations, my journeys can to an abrupt halt. However, I finally had everything resolved and put back into place, so I will be continuing my true passions of traveling to new places, meeting great people, and sharing amazing tea!
My current adventure is due to commence within a couple weeks. I will be taking my love, and we will be traveling all over the U.S. for quite some time. I would like to know if anyone has any “tea-related” suggestions on where to stop.
I have contacted a few tea growers, shop owners, and “gong-fu” spots along the way if they wouldn’t mind me stopping in to drink and take pictures, and I have received positive feedback!
We will be driving through/stopping in the following states:
Pennsylvania;
Maryland;
Virginia;
North Carolina;
South Carolina;
Georgia;
Mississippi;
Alabama;
Nebraska;
Arkansas;
Louisiana;
Arizona;
California;
Wyoming;
South Dakota;
Montana;
Idaho;
Washington;
Oregon;
Nevada.
I am open to any ideas if they are not too far from the route.
I hope to find a way to share the adventures and hopefully educate and detail about whats going on in the “tea world” across the United States!
We are in Virginia near Blacksburg. Don’t know if you will be near me or not.
I am only about 30 minutes away. I know a killer Chinese restaurant in Roanoke that will allow us to gong fu! I will bring the grandson to perform those chores for us. Any idea on the date you are expected?
Meeting in Roanoke today! Excited this will be the first person I have met from the site.
Las Vegas Nevada, you have the las Vegas tea club, Tealet, Tea and whisk and panacea here.
Contact me when you get to Vegas, we can meet up at Tealet or Tea and whisk, and have some tea.
They are a wholesale company, but they have a studio to entertain guests. They also have events about raising tea awareness. If you call them ahead of time during the week, you can make an appointment for a tea tasting.
Hey Ken! I’m nearing las Vegas. Hit me up so we can meet up for tea! :)
If you are going to be near Williamsburg, Va there is an excellent tea store called Discover Teas. They have a second location, I don’t remember where but it would be on their website.
Sadly, newport news is a bit too far off track, so I wouldn’t be able to visit.
If you drive through state college PA definitely check out the Tea Institute at Penn State (https://www.facebook.com/%E9%9D%92%E7%99%BD%E8%8C%B6%E9%A4%A8-The-Penn-State-Tea-House-159841094057870/)
Sadly, I won’t be able to visit the tea institute. I really wish I could though.
Coming to Seattle?
Seattle is my 21st stop on the trip, so I would guess either late June or first week of July.
Isn’t there a small tea plantation in Oregon or maybe it was Washington? But a vaguely recall seeing tea made in one of the Northwest States on a website. It was quite expensive but maybe you could take a tour.
If you are driving through North Carolina or South Carolina not sure which it is in but the Charleston Tea Plantation in my understanding gives tours and sells a fairly decent tea too.
I will look in the Oregon plantation.
I am a maybe on being able to visit the Charleston Plantation; I am still unsure if my route will allow for it.
If you’re going thtough Portland in Oregon, I highly reccomend Fly Awake Teahouse. You can shoot me a PM; It would be fun to join.
Amazing trip! I admire you can travel the tea world. I will contitune to focus on you.
The packing is still underway! I admire what tea sourcers/importers go through. Packaging up hoards of tea and teaware safely, without scent, and without damage is quite a feat!
The date of departure is set for Monday, and the excitement is building!
