Your Tea
Detox teas often contain concentrated doses of different herbs that only make one go to the bathroom more so it’s not actual fat that’s being lost. Oftentimes, they include a different mixture of herbs and can be detrimental to health.
If you really want to aim for some tea that can help, try oolongs. They affect metabolism in a way that makes people less prone to eat more.
At the end of the day, nothing stacks up to exercising and a well balanced diet.
I have never heard of this property of oolongs and I thought I had heard all the tea health theories.
As a frequent drinker of oolongs who also tends to overeat, I’m quite skeptical of this health claim. Either it’s false, I’m the exception that magically proves the rule, or I would be an utterly insatiable glutton without my oolong.
It’s a property that has been based on how Chinese people view their tea.
@Kaylee, you mentioned you tend to overeat. The tea itself isn’t magical. Diet and exercise is always the main factor for weight, with extra emphasis on diet.
The oolong only tends to serve as an aid to help with metabolism.

Even though this paragraph refers to green tea, this is basically what I’m saying:
“Anecdotal evidence over time, particularly in China, points to a relationship between green tea consumption and weight loss,” says Rumpler. “But until we do a really comprehensive study in which we have humans drink tea and see whether they lose weight, we can’t actually say that green tea makes people lose weight. What we can say is that it raises metabolic rates and increases fat oxidation rates. Those are two things that are predictive of weight loss.”
Lastly, oolong contains teasaponin, which tends to help with controlling appetite.
i have been drinking black tea for a year, which hasn’t done anything to my weight so far. It does get rid of the greesy feeling after some oily Chinese meals, and by the way, i now live in Kunming Yunnan, trying to promote some ancient Arbor tea? do you guys have any interest in it?
I do not realize that tea can lose weight. But some of the ingredients inside the tea can help it. If you want to rely on tea to lose weight, the effect should not be very obvious. Maybe you should keep drinking tea for a long time and wait for the result. Good luck!
