Which teas would maple syrup go well with?

I just read in the newspaper that you could sweeten tea with a teaspoon of maple syrup (it was talking about grabbing pine needles from the back yard and making tea with them, but anyway). What teas do you think would go well with maple syrup? I have some around, so it might be interesting to try…

i’m thinking maybe an almond or other type of nut tea would go well. i love homemade maple syrup with pancakes and I frequently make blueberry, strawberry, and chocolate chip pancakes from scratch so to me blueberry, strawberry, or dark chocolate teas would go well too. A lemon tea would also probably work. I make lemonade with maple syrup and it tastes great.

Rooibos would definitely go well with maple syrup. When I think about it a good pu erh would taste good with maple syrup. It is a STRONG, full bodied black tea that has kind of a molasses undertone. You could also try a chai blend of rooibos or pu erh as well.

I agree with rooibos! Maple and rooibos work very well together.

Stovetop chai is nice with maple syrup as the sweetener. I would also suggest possibly a fruity black tea.

Angels’ Dream is a blend with blueberries and maple anyway; syrup could only make it better.

I think maybe a tea with ginger in it might taste good – kind of like a gingersnap thing.

I think our Organic Toasted Fig would be divine with maple syrup http://www.americantearoom.com/toasted-fig-black-loose-leaf-tea-organic.html

I’ve been enjoying “Oh Canada” tea from David’s which is sweetened with maple syrup. It’s a red rooibos….well I’ll paste the description from David’s Tea…..

Looking for a taste of Canada? Try this red rooibos tea. It’s sweetened with (what else?) maple syrup and sprinkled with delicious maple leaf candies. Plus it’s 100% diplomatic (well, caffeine-free) and tastes great in both our official languages. With green rooibos, honeybush, caramel and toffee bits to shake things up. A truly authentic Canadian experience"

I vote for lapsang souchong. The smokiness would lend well to syrup. It reminds me of bacon. Mmmm, bacon.

that would make for an interesting tea.

Maple Bacon black tea by 52teas is also great w maple syrup! I think it has LS in it to add smokiness? Also, it’s the only tea I know of with imitation bacon bits included!
