Help finding a tea that taste good unsweetened and iced
Hi all,
Hoping you guys can recommend some teas that taste great unsweetened and iced. I’m trying to decrease my consumption of sugar drinks. I do know that unsweetened tea will in no way take the place of sugary drinks, but I know some have more flavor than others. Any recommendations?
I’m not an experienced tea drinker and I’ve mostly been concentrating on puerh but a Tippy Yunnan might work for you. I drank it hot and found it to be sweet.
Others may sell it. I got mine from Simpson & Vail: Tippy Yunnan, T0011
I’ve been experimenting with coldbrewing tea (putting it in cold water in the fridge overnight) and have found best results with Japanese Green tea and greener oolongs. Though black tea also works quite well, but maybe isn’t as sweet.
I like Adagio Lemon Soleil (a lemon ceylon tea) as an unsweetened cold tea. I brew it hot and refrigerate.
Mi lian xiang and jasmine scented teas are great cold steeped if you’re looking for a naturally sweet tasting tea.
hi atlcharm,
when we’re in the mood for something iced and not too sweet, we brew a bold, fruity tisane and then combine it with either a green or black that we like on its own. always brew them separately and mix them over ice; this way you you can pay attention to proper water temperature and brew times for each.

I really really love Berry Me In Kisses by Tease Tea! It’s super fruity and made with whole berries! I’ve never had a fruit tea taste so good, but perhaps that cause most fruit teas are made with apple, hibiscus and flavoring these days!

Etoile de France by Mariages Frères is my favorite, it’s no great shakes when hot but when cold, delicious! It’s a green tea with vanilla and pastry notes.
Republic of Tea has a few nice ones as well, Pineapple Orange Guava and Strawberry Basil are both very good. Kusmi’s BB Detox is really tasty as well when iced and has maté in it if you need more of a kick.
