Looking for a specific tea
I am looking for a tea that will fit the following descriptions: Dark, layered/confusing/disorienting, depth, unpredictable.
This probably sounds like a ripe puerh but I’m open to suggestions and interpretations. I’m looking for brand/name specific suggestions that would fit this profile. I am looking to pair it with my book of the month, “House of Leaves.” Those words (I feel) accurately reflect the tone and mood of the book.
Thanks!
my favourite book in the world of horror! that & excession by banks are my favourite books ever written
I wouldnt class ripe puerh as confusing though.. I would maybe use one of those heichas that are like an Oolong from Yunnan sourcing – its like an oolong then suddenly its sour then its something else. bit of a trip

its pretty odd. Lots of complexity, its a heicha, oolong, black tea. Its also pretty subtle, much like HoL. try it first though! it might work or might not
or maybe some sort of aged iron cake, where it starts off pretty subtle then breaks apart and takes you on a flavour ride?
In all honesty, a tianjian heicha would match that 100% but… it’s kind of a hard tea to get into, let alone share with others randomly
Maybe an aged tianjian iron cake :immersed:
for anyone never read it, just do it. fantastic book! but avoid any synopsis. Someone told me to read it & I just did & glad I didnt know anything about the book prior. If you like surreal supernatural stuff its such a winner
I can blend a shou’long’black just for you : p
to be fair mtchyg – you should try that tianjian I mentioned anyway, its a really good tea
Cocoa Amore by Whispering Pines would match some of that. It’s dark and layered and has a lot of depth. And really is a phenomenal tea too. Don’t know that it is unpredictable though.
I loved all these suggestions. Thank you everyone. Now, LP, lets get into talks with that personal blend, shall we? :)
How about Whispering Pines shou, Japanese black tea, and a medium roast oolong?
I have all of that on hand and can play with the ratios to come up with some mysterious sessions for you.
