The new Zhangping cakes from what-cha. Currently on the ‘fruity’ one.
Oh man I just love these things. So much going on! while also keeping the soft pearl thing they do so well. The fruity one has a little jade oolong citrus-y leaf thing alongside the floral & nuts, which is becoming more apparent as I pass the 5 steep mark, and descends into something tasting more like a high mountain spinach.
Am yet to try the floral ones, which sold out rather quick! Alistair said he is getting some ‘higher grade’ ones soon as well. Excite
I love those zhangping Shui Xian cakes. The one I have is very floral though, which one is the fruit one? I get mine from Hello Teatime on eBay/AliExpress which is where most vendors source it from.
Not sure, they have all been what-cha.
First there was just light and dark. Now there are 3 types being stocked, fruity, floral, dark roast.
And soon there will be 4 types with a new higher grade.
as a free sample I got some winter TGY. it was really good, fruity, fresh, vine-green, natural yum tasting stuff. Great stuff :)
Zi Hong Pao from ys. Yummy sour fruit weirdness wearing purple dhp roasty jacket. I really like this stuff,. It’s so different from western tea. Yum.
Also Thai winter frost Jin xuan from what cha. I’ve found a place for this, and that’s around breakfast or lunch. Good with food. Its a bit odd due to its savoury saltiness & vegetal character, but has worked well in a pot with my girlfriend & pancakes :)
Stone Table Ali Shan from Beautiful Taiwan Tea Company. This is a lightly roasted Ali Shan. I prefer green oolongs, but this one really hits the spot for me. It retains the flowery sweetness of a green oolong, and adds a touch of spice from the baking.
Matcha from Nishio. Where, I cannot say.
The best part of spring is having a place outside to sit and drink tea.
YS Imperial Grade Laoshan Black Tea from Shandong Spring 2016
Got in an order from Wha-Cha. First tea I tried was the Malawi Zomba Pearls white tea. I didn’t know what to expect because this is the first white tea I have tried. Have to say I really enjoyed it. I was able to steep at least 6 times as the pearls opened up and even have a cold steep going on over night just to see what happens with these beautiful leaves. It is fun just to see them unroll with each steep.
Autumn 2015 Premium Jin Guan Yin YS.
I have found the premium green Oolongs from Yunnan Sourcing to be vegetal when compared to others with more floral tastes. Where they really really shine is longevity & the fresh flavour that carries throughout the day.
I have lost count the amount of steeps from this one gaiwan now, me and my girlfriend both been drinking it earlier, and me later all into the evening.
