Bed time and sleep teas?

I like to have Rishi’s chamomile medley and GABA oolong at bedtime. Also, I find that I can handle a little sencha and genmaicha at night – just a teaspoon – but not Chinese green tea.

I have always found GABA teas to be hit or miss. Sometimes I notice an effect, sometimes I don’t.

For sleep I boil valerian root or use the drops. Valerian tastes rather bad so I mix it with something else, I find anything citrusy will overpower the root flavor.

This will sound really awful but one of the things I mixed valerian with is orange Metamucil, but a sugar free version of it. Quite honestly the orange in Metamucil type drinks covers the valerian.

But using valerian drops frees up the choice of beverage to put them in, and the flavor isn’t nearly so noticeable. The downside is the drops don’t work as well as the boiled root.
