Brewing Gong Fu Tea on the Go
Hi Folks,
I’m just curious if any of you would like to contribute to a discussion on brewing gong fu tea on the go. The biggest challenge in brewing tea at, let’s say, a park, is the hot water factor. Without an outlet, many of us with electric water boilers are unable to make tea out in the world.
Does anyone have any tips on brewing in the outdoors?
Without an outlet, your best bet is hot water in a vacuum flask. The ones with push button tops are nice for dispensing hot water without letting allowing too much heat to escape.
You want a brand of vacuum flask that really works well though. In my experience the Zojirushi brand of thermos and vacuum bottle from Japan are the best. Some vacuum bottles really don’t hold water at hot enough a temperature though.
Ikea vacuum thermos keeps the water too hot to drink for at least 3 hours and substantially steaming hot for another 4 after that. Only problem is it doesn’t hold enough for a very extensive gong fu session.
