Anybody ordered from puerhshop.com?
Hey, everybody. In my search for online tea vendors, I came upon the website puerhshop.com. I saw that they ship from Michigan, about an hour away from where I live, so I was a bit interested by that. Their prices on a lot of puerh tea seems very low (perhaps suspiciously so), and there are a lot of typos (or just confusing wording) which makes it seem like descriptions and the like were just fed through an online translator.
They seem like they might be a decent source for a lot of factory-produced puerh tea.
Now, the tea and shipping is cheap enough that making an order seems pretty low risk, so I’m likely going to go ahead with one sometime in the future just to give it a shot. I was just wondering if anybody had tried this shop out before, and if so, what their experience was. Thanks!

Yes I have ordered from them many times. They have a great points system and some nice teas. Though there has been controversy about… something. Maybe a fake or mislabelled tea? I can’t quite remember. They have an excellent Moonlight white cake and their Zen brand shou is really quite good for the money. I’ve had some nice sheng from them as well.
They are legit. If you go to grab any Dayi there are a couple suspect ones. You can message me if you need help distinguishing them.
There are just a couple on there. You can tell by the back of the wrapper. The back of the cakes should always, except for the pre 2008 stuff, be wrapped like this.

Ah, I remember reading somewhere that you could tell by looking at the wrapper on the back. Didn’t know what to look for before.
Are there any other items you may be unsure of? I have been eyeing up there catalog but can’t pull the trigger for the same reasons as Matu (unsure of authenticity). Is this just for Dayi or can you suspect other factory offerings to be mislabeled as well?
I generally like puerhshop and have ordered from them many times. I did once get a moldy puerh from them. They made me send it back in order to get a refund. There was a controversy a while back. Someone believed that they had received a fake because of the way the cake tasted. As taste is subjective I was not completely convinced that the person had received a fake but it is impossible to tell. They have a huge selection for a US vendor and not all their cakes are great. Some are very good some less so.
i did order from them and had no problem. I like their own pressings MGH. They are cheap and good quality. Didnt buy any Dayi.
I have always been happy with my orders from them. I am about to place another one. I actually appreciate the what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach. There are some descriptions that I doubt the authenticity of but I don’t believe it is puerhshop making those claims but rather the vendors they have bought them from. They ship very quickly too.
I was satisfied with my order. Everything was pretty good, but nothing was great. Fair value for daily drinking.
An excellent ripe from them:

This one is a decent one from them as well.
