Tea in thermos
Hi,
I’ll be really busy until I finish my degree next july and I’ll be a great par of the day out, so I thought that it would be a great idea to brew tea for the whole day (for me this is around 0.5l) and keep it warm in a thermo (I just drink tea from 7am to 3pm).
There’s any inconvenience in doing that? I mean, is the tea going to oxidize in the thermo or it will keep ‘fresh’?
Some people claim it changes the taste, some don’t notice any change. As much in this life, so much depends…
Try it out. Maybe experiment with different teas. See what you think!
I have a Zojirushi Thermos that I sometimes put tea into. I don’t find it alters the flavor of the tea. I don’t like to put flavored teas in it however, because a thermos can retain the flavor of teas in it previously. I try to stick to straight blacks and ripe puerhs in the thermos. I once put a heavily flavored tea from Teavana in a thermos and teas put in there afterward tasted terrible.
Any decent steel flask should keep the tea drinking hot for 24 hours and not affect the flavour.
Get a good air tight vacuum stainless steel tumbler and you’ll be set all day.
I have had teas oxidize, but only if I let the lid off, and all those times were herbals.
I do this as well. I have a 500ml Zojirushi that I use when I’m at the office. I do notice that the taste is different when I am drinking straight from the bottle versus pouring it out in a cup. I mainly drink ripe pu’erhs but the difference in taste is so noticeable to me that I feel the need to bring a small espresso cup that I pour into along with the bottle.
I use the cover of my flask as a drinking cup.
