So, what do you think a milk oolong smells like?

This was quite a hot topic on Reddit, and I wanted to get your opinion! What do you think that milk oolong smells like?

Creamy sweet goodness.

But depending on the batch/harvest I’ve had some smell like milk candy, some like bread, once I got some that smelt like cinnamon rolls!

Cinnamon rolls?! Where’d you find that? I want some! Yum :)

I don’t remember. It might have been TeaLyra, but it was an unflavored one and that varies from season to season and batch to batch. That’s part of the fun of it! I think I only got a sample at the time, and by the time I put in another order it was a bit different, more like raisin bread. It’s one of those teas that I don’t mind trying a little from most companies because you never know what you’ll get.

If you want consistency, go with artificially flavored. Teavivre’s is nice. =)

Oh man, Jin Xuan can be all over the place with its notes! I get the cinnamon rolls, though only in hindsight, since to me they smell like spicy lilies.

I kinda want to pair this with cinnamon rolls now!

Usually I find it smells like a blend of sweet cream, vanilla ice cream, sesame custard, and occasionally flowers.

Though this inspired me to make some and the one I am drinking now also has the smell of papaya which is new.

Granted this is just the flavored/scented kind. The Jin Xuan can smell like a whole bunch of different fun things, I love it!

Cool!

I agree with Amanda’s note. It’s milky creamy sweetness with a hint of floral. A delight for me since I can’t drink milk or cream but still love the taste of it.

Awww!! Hi RosaliTea! You guys are awesome, I love your subscription boxes :D

Ubacat I am not lactose intolerant, but can’t really eat ice cream because cold stuff and me are not friends, so it definitely fills that void for me too!

It’s amazing how you can tell between the pure milk oolongs and the ones that have been scented with milk. The pure ones always smell so much better.

Spun sugar sweet, with fresh whipped cream and cornsilk. Fruity, floral, bready, or various vegetal undertones vary from tea to tea. Regardless, there is not ONE I do not thoroughly enjoy!

The one I have smells a lot like peaches and cream. And if you use a Taiwanese aroma cup (or just smell the empty cup after you’ve drank it all) it begins to smell like chocolate milk as it cools. A lot of teas seem to have a honey or cocoa note when you smell them that way, I’ve found, but the Jin Xuan Dong Ding I have definitely has it. Pretty neat.

Ooh, yum – I love chocolate. Sounds really cool. Where do you get your Jin Xuan Dong Ding?
