Mate
I recently discovered the wonderful world of mate. However, my only experiences come from some Adagio and Teavana samplers. Does anyone have any advice on where to buy reasonable yet wonderful mate? I really enjoy the spiced and cocoa mates I have tried, and I was interested particularly in these two mates: (1) http://www.fusionteas.com/Roasted-Cocoa-Yerba-Mate.html; and (2) http://www.republicoftea.com/mate-latte-full-leaf/p/v00689/.
Any advice?
Thank you in advance.
I’ve seen flavored and unflavored mate in big pouches at the grocery store. They’re usually in bags like coffee grinds and at the top shelf of the tea aisle, you’ll probably have better luck at big chain supermarkets like Safeway or popular niche markets like Trader Joes and Whole foods.. I don’t really drink mate though, I can’t vouch for them.

You can get several free samples with your order, so you can try several different brands and flavors. Lots of “authentic” South American mates there, and the prices are decent as well. I have ordered from them a few times and have been happy with what I got.
Try Guayaki’s San Mateo Mate. It’s air dried as opposed to roasted. It has a nice light body to it with a brisk, herbal, vegetal, green tea like taste.

Try finding Chá Mate Leão. It’a a orange box with a lion on it. It’s the most famous roasted mate tea here in Brazil. It’s now owned by Coca-Cola Company so it shouldn’t be hard to find.
