Tea Vacations?
That other thread got me thinking, what kind of options are there out there for someone interested in learning more about tea abroad?
I don’t see any vacations of any sort anytime soon for me personally (unless anyone wants to kickstarter some self enlightenment into me, I have a paypal!!! i’m sorry, i’m sorry, couldn’t resist) but what sorts of opportunities are out there? Especially for someone with an interest in the local language of whatever region? (For me personally, my Japanese is…basic, but I’m semi-literate, and I’d be interested in learning a dialect of Chinese at some point, maybe even Korean)
I know there’s tons of tea markets in China, but those don’t seem particularly foreigner friendly. Any one have any tips on surviving those? I know marshaln has a pretty interesting post on that somewhere.
Where would you like to go to learn about tea if money were no object?
This could be fun….

I should note that someone else brought this to my attention, but still would be an interesting experience
That was me who was looking into it! Which, I still am – just trying to budget for it, pretty much. However that’s my tea related goal for the new year! Spend a few weeks in Nepal :)
or this if India is your thing…..

Tea Vacations are a great thing. It was part of what lead me to start up this company (doing an internship at the Amba Tea Estate).

Eventually it is my goal to offer my home in Florida where I am growing tea as a place where people can work and gain similar experiences I had (or visit for a holiday).
I’ve already had Nicole visit and stay with me!
Another idea is Global Tea Hut which I believe is in Taiwan. I know tea drinkers can go there for a visit. You would have to look up the details. They produce an excellent magazine with tea each month for a $20 monthly subscription.
Oh, oh oh, my dream vacation is the Jingmai Mountain Resort and Spa, where you get to pick and press your own puerh cakes.
Please check out http://www.teatotal.net.au/#!tea-tours/csst. We went on a tour organized by them last spring in China and it was simply great.
These have been on my bookmarks for awhile. I look every so often and drool. :) All in India.
