2016 Sheng Olympics (group buy)
I’m WAY ahead of schedule on this, but because I want to drink these as much as you…I will be finishing everything up the coming weekend with hopes of doing three separate shipping sessions: 1 share, 2 share, and international.
If anyone has special request please make them soon because I’m building a table with notes for who has not requested something and those who have asked for something in addition to what is going on here (swap, random purchases…)
Your packages will be treated as I would like mine to be treated. The labels are printed clearly. Each package is sealed tightly, ready for you to open it up. Bubble wrap is going to wrap around everything to make sure the tea has a nice nap coming to you.
P.S. to those reading who are not part of this, there is probably going to be three spots unaccounted for by February 1st because I haven’t heard back from someone… I have no idea how to pick who should take those spots because interest is high; I’ll think of something by then.
I’ll have another slot if there’s one available. I had less money when I applied first. Give it to others not already in the group if someone wants, but otherwise I would love to get to try them twice.
I’ve already packaged everyone’s portion, so I would like to keep them that way and have another join in; I have a few people who have already asked. It’s a hard decision… but, I think allowing more people in would be the best choice because I want as much participation as possible.
You can PM me or watch here as some look to split a cake, a tong, or whatever happens. I’d be willing to help you acquire a second tasting/sampling of whatever tea that is possible to do so with. Note that some of these items have sold out already so I won’t be able to help with those.

Going to take an hour break and then comeback to do the international orders and go search for shipping information. If you see that your name doesn’t say ‘shipped’ next to it, a fresh message would help me out :)
As far as pricing, it seems that USPS hasn’t raised rates for domestic shipping… we shall see what Canada and overseas looks like soon enough.
Canadian shipping is a mess :-( nearly doubled. Domestic went up 10-20%.
Ugh, just tried to look up a label to ship a large padded envelope to Ontario. Lowest 1st class uninsured option was going to cost $19.
Better hope it doesn’t look like that for me… I’ve got quite a few shipping to Canada
How heavy are your packages?
Canada – 1-8 oz = $9.50, 9-32 oz = $15.50
Aus/Japan 1-8 oz = $13.75, 9-32 oz = $22.75
UK/Denmark/Germany = 1-8 oz = $13.50, 9-32 oz = $22.50
NZ/Singapore/Vietnam = 1-8 oz = $13.25, 9-32 oz = $22.25
Yes, I really do have a shipping chart next to my desk because of my perfume decanting hobby.. hahaha!
I think the shipping issues were false alarms… I was able to ship 9 ounces to the UK for $7.90
Canada seemed lower than ever; I use all the correct settings with all the correct numbers. I can’t explain it, but somehow one of the packages to Canada sent for $3.90 with 6 ounces and another one sent out for $8.30
It’s such a mess. Nothing should come back because I did it all correctly. I’ve yet to ever receive anything back from last year and they all delivered correctly. I think it’s over 9 ounces or 10 ounces that it becomes more expensive.

You work with a commercial shipping company right? I think they have special rates.
I know I just mailed out a bunch of US packages using paypal and 1-8 oz all were $2.60, but if I looked at the retail price list the cost was $2.54 – $3.54.

So I’m pretty new to puerh, but have been enjoying the stuff I’ve tried and I stumbled across this group buy on reddit. I’d be interested in buying one of the slots if there are openings.

I know you say you do this for the love of tea and community and all but you really deserve to be making some money off all this.. Or at the very least you should have some tea gifts with your name on them..
@Just John the decision that was made is going into effect for group buys after this one as follows: Each share will have $19 dedicated to tea with $1 dedicated to my share/s; this way I’m not making money, but earning tea out of my work :)
I don’t want to raise it above $1 because this is something I enjoy and want to do for others without the thought of money being attached. This was a large scale group buy and I learned a lot. To be honest, the new friends gained plus the teas I’m able to try at a lower cost… all this work kind of pays for itself :)
Not to mention that we are slowly gaining new people here and I hope they will provide new perspectives for us all the learn from as we are all trying to figure this pu’erh thing out.

I’m really excited for this! There are a lot of interesting and controversial teas, so it should be a wonderful experience. We should make a hash tag for instagram photos alike the aged oolong group buy being #oolongtimeago.
