Emmett - YangQingHao tea group orders.
For people that want to get in touch with Emmett without going through the steepster message you can get him through his blog.
I’ll be contacting you next year so I can be a cool kid as well. I’d join the cool kid club now, but I just spent a lot on tea.
Anybody up to splitting for samples of the more affordable ones and maybe a bit of the higher end ones? I would like to try just maybe 10g of them first…
I contacted Emmett and he said he will work on arranging shipping to me in India. Those of you who have already sampled the teas, could you give me some suggestions on what to go for – I suppose I will have to purchase the cakes directly w/o sampling them…
Whats your budget and what qualities are you looking for. Want fruity or more woody/leather/spice flavors? They all pretty much steep out 15 times or more. They can be thick early but settle in on what I consider a medium thickness. All are smooth and have great mouth feel. Some have stronger huigan than others. All have good aftertaste. Throat feel vaires as well. Sorry if these are kind of random but I’m just kind of typing my thoughts out lol. If you follow me we can pm each other as well
Thanks Grill. No particular budget, but I will not be buying more than 2-3 cakes at one time. Probably one of the expensive ones close to $1 / gm and one of the more affordable ones at about half that price. Not too fruity, woody/spicy sounds fine. I have followed you so you can PM too.
A few random thoughts based on my experience with YQH teas…..
Given the maturation, careful storage in Taiwan, and source of the material (i.e., gushu from the Yiwu region – Youle, ManZhuan, GeDeng, YiBang, MangZhi, and YiWu tea mountains), as Grill suggests, I too feel that you cannot go wrong with any choice. Some teas are lighter and others are a bit heavier but even this statement should be qualified for, in general, YQH teas are lighter. Tastes and preferences vary but I prefer to purchase the cakes since the tuos and mushrooms are more tightly compressed. The “lower end” products (cheaper) are delicious often priced lower because they are composed of a blend of teas from the six mountains (most of these are authentic gushu) rather than a single origin gushu tea.
We all know tastes and preferences vary greatly. That said, 2004 TeJiPin is very good and the 2006 YQH Chawang Shu (spr.GFZ; on par with the 2004 DingJiPin) is quite appealing. 2005 YQH Yiwu ChaWang Gushu (pure Yiwu gushu) and the 2005 YQH TsangLiu Gushu (6 mtn. gushu blend; a bit heavier than the ‘05 Chawang) — both are popular YQH starter teas.
I haven’t had the chawang shu yet but it’s as good as the dingjipin well…..anyone know how to rob a bank?
Also the 07 qizhong is a good suggestions for someone that wants a stronger taste and that east mengla profile without dropped huge amounts of money.
James from teadb (and also on Steepster as jschergen) has offered good insight into YQH teas. Worth viewing if you have not done so:

2007 Yangqing Hao Yiwu Qiaomu Gushu (half way down this page): http://teadb.org/slightly-aged-yiwu-puerh-june-2015-report/
Yep good videos, there is even a video of him spilling some Tsang lui all over the place if you want some unedited yqh action. I think there will be some more videos on these teas coming up as well
…the tejipin is one of those insanely expensive cakes I never thought I would buy, but hey, everyone needs to make a purchase like this once :)
Good choices. The tejipin love. First session was a bit disappointing but that’s what I get for drinking it the day I received it. Next session was a couple weeks later and I was beyond impressed. Weird my post would upload properly before. Edit: Wow so trying to make the little heart thing screws up the post. Edit 2: double wow so a greater than symbol doesn’t work on these forums. What year are we in?…

This is so so so so tempting……
