Yixing seasoning...
Yeah. I did the method that the guy from verdant tea had on YouTube. Boiled it first then did about 10 steepings with my tea. Poured into a bowl then soaked the yixing in the tea for several hours. Did a session with it today that wasn’t that good. I think it was sucking the taste though. We will see for the next time.
boiled in water for 10 minutes then let it cool before doing 10 steeping wth about 7 grams of Shou. Then submerged pot and lid into the bowl that I emptied the steepings into and let them soak for several hours.
whats the pot volume? if you dont know exactly, it easy. place on a scale, zero it and add water.
Ah…I don’t have a scale, but my cups are 3.5 oz and filled up with the 5-7 grams of leaves in the pot, it will almost fill up the cup.
You need one. How do you know you used 7g? Anyway it seems that your pot is roughly 120ml so I would use 10g maybe because your pot is new and stealing flavors. I always use more Shou and it lasts longer. You need scale ;)
Yeah I know. I think the wife has one. I’ll check. Actually eyeballed the amount.
You can always buy a scale. They are sold almost everywhere that puerh tea is sold. I got mine from Puerhshop.
Yeah. That’s gonna be my next purchase. Should have gotten one from Amazon with my last order.
ive done a few differnt variations on seasoning my pots. and all of them still leave the pot stealing flavor for a little while after. all that means is…..drink more tea! :-P
I’m all for soaking in hot water method. Putting it in boiling water scares me with seeing how easy it is to chip a pot. After that I soak in hot water with tea added. No reason to get overly complicated. Using the pot is what will season it best. Now pairing it will be a much harder venture. None of my pots are being used with the tea I originally intended them to use
