Puerh Travelling Tea Box - Round 3 Finished
Just as a heads up, there is a small but possible chance that the hurricane hits my area hard. If that does happen I’d say it’s best to skip me for now and wait till it swings back to NY.
You scared me for a minute. The first time I mailed the Puerh TTB we had a blizzard and it took 11 days for the box to go from Massachusetts to New York (via New Hampshire and North Caroline!?!)
Hopefully the box will arrive at HaveTeaWillTravel well before the storm and it will blow over before it is time to mail it to you (most people take a week or so to sort through the box and send it on).
Most models showing it hit in Carolina but anything can happen. There have been a few showing it up to a cat 4 and tracking further north….after Sandy I can’t take things for granted anymore
it’s kinda too late now coz he already sent it to NY..and from HaveTeaWillTravel it should just be land travel to you. it will be the same since HaveTeaWillTravel will have to ship it out eitherway. is there a shorter way to call HaveTeaWillTravel? like he/she lol
If we get hit hard then he just skips me and sends it to liquid Proust. The storm will have done it’s thing by the time he’s ready to send it out so we’ll know either way

The box is already out. Only way I can see working is if someone holds it and waits for your package to also arrive.
You’ll have to get info and rules to Dr. Jim and then find out who would have the box as Grill said.
I’m willing to do so if you provide separated teas already weighted out for those before me since I want everyone to have a fair go. I can mail them to three before. However, Dr.Jim is the one over all of this.

I had a PM conversation with Nicholas at Misty Peak. I recommended that they wait until the next round since we’ve already got a lot of donated tea for this box. He thought that made sense. If you are disappointed, you’ll just have to re-up.
Tonight I drank some of W2T’s 2014 Laochatou and it was so good that I put 10 orders in my cart… but then I saw something and thought of this TTB.
My question is this: Does anyone know if there is any of the 2000 Chocolate in the box? I’m wanting to try the 2000 Chocolate before making my purchase, however that might not be a possibility but I decided it would be best to check first.
There was not when it left my house but there are two people ahead of you. One of them might add it. You might check their cupboards.

P.S. I changed the box to a larger size. It was way too tight of a fit when I received it, and when I sent it out it wouldn’t fit.
i thought we each get 5g of the raw and 10 of the ripe? or we can get however much we want? haha, please clarify.
hm, it says 10g raw and 5g ripe..but the amounts provided do not match up for the # of participants (there seems to be greater quantity per ripe than per raw?)
ps. im horrible at math and numbers in general..
This is just the stuff you don’t replace. I figured we got so much stuff from W2T and EoT that it would be a good idea to lighten up the box a little.
Follow the good example of HaveTeaWillTravel: he did it perfectly (except for taking more than 5 grams of the W2T and EoT teas, and I can’t complain too much about that since he added some really fine teas in exchange). Sorry if I’ve added too much complication, but I’m trying to work out arrangements that work best for us all.
PS: I’m an engineer, so go figure. :)
I know I’m getting something wrong somewhere, please help me haha. i want to get this right before the box gets to me. So we can get only 10g of raw in total for W2t? Not 10g/raw tea? coz if it is per raw, we have only 50g of repave so only 5 of the 10 participants can get some.
It is nice that the intake and output are so detailed.
Yssah It’s 5 grams of each tea from each vendor. With 50 grams 10 people can take 5g each. Now some teas will be passed over, I didn’t take much from White2tea since I’ve tried pretty much all of them already. I’m sure there is a bit more than 50 grams of each and I think Dr. Jim said he measured the EoT teas to be heavier. I tried to add in teas across different ages, areas and price range.
yssah, this is what I believe happened… though I don’t like making accusations: I think Dr Jim mixed shou and sheng up.
W2T provided ripe in the following quantities: 100g, 100g, and 160g
and then sheng: 50 × 6
So from my math I gather: Each person takes 5grams max of each W2T sheng and 10g max of each W2T ripe.
I’m 95% sure this is what happened since the amounts would add up.
My 95% comes from being a remmitance accountant, the problem here is all the voices… all the voices!

I thought it might be that since starting a box does take lots of work but I just wanted to be sure it wasn’t just me miscalculating or what. Lol, and accusation is too strong a word, it is more like an observation :P
Haha, so precise @95%! I always doubt my math.
Yssah: Let’s simplify things: Take up to 5 grams of any tea that you want that’s in the box. Add up how much you took, then subtract 20 grams. That’s how much to put back.
If I’m wrong, I’ll purchase 100% stone pressed sheng from YS and have them 2 day ship to put in this box; I’m rather confident with my numbers.

uh, so what happened to the 10g allowance Dr Jim? Is the 5g limit for all teas a new rule? i was kinda looking forward to the possibility of a stonepressed sheng in case lol
um, i got even more confused: why subtract 20g? if i got 5g of each donated tea, that would be way more than 20…
Box received. While I’m a bit disappointed that it isn’t actually filled with blueberry muffins I guess all the tea inside kinda makes up for it

I’m also adding 54g of Yan Qing Hao 2006 Chawang, it’s been separated into 6g bags so everyone left on the list can grab one. This is a gift and doesn’t have to be replaced. It’s a 6 mountain blend and probably the best example of a mid aged premium eastern banna sheng I’ve had to date.
Hey Dr. Jim im I’m pretty sure you added the starter pack, It’s much appreciated. I have so much pu that I’m going to label it for anyone and people may pick and and choose what they want out of it or just take it all together. This whole thing is about sharing and a look into other peoples puerh tastes

My turn around will be rather quick as well once I receive it. I will be taking out anything that I would be interested in purchasing within the next few months. As many could guess, I’ll be adding some really ‘out there’ pu’erh items to this :)
Liquid Proust I gave away the last 20 or so grams I had in trades otherwise I’d have no issue throwing something like that in. I have some rare teas coming in this upcoming week. I might hold onto the box and put some of that in there depending on when its scheduled to arrive

I’m planning on buying some and treating it like a fine wine; meaning I’ll have some people come over to sip away at it with me.
I know but I like to share stuff like that since it’s an opportunity to try something that you normally can’t get a hold of. The YQH is a perfect example as it’s not sold at any western facing vendor atm.
EDIT: Oh and the Last Thought’s IMO is worth every penny. One of the few really premium teas that have lived up to expectations
you are lucky to get to have some of that…and friends who can sip and appreciate it with you. i hope to get there someday!

This box should also occupy you for a decent month; that is if you steep each tea 983974389279483729847983274987392874329 times throughout a day or two.
I plan on getting a couple weeks out of my choices though with mixing in other tea it’ll be over a month
My record so far is 28 with that tea. I’m sure if I upped the amount to about 10 grams I could break 30 or even 35. After about a dozen steeps or so it levels out and just keeps making amazing tea for another 10 or so more while never needing to steep it much more than 30 or so seconds
I had the weirdest dream last night. I got the ttb early. The box was really heavy and I was so excited, it was like Christmas in October. The entire box was bubblewrapped – on the outside. Inside the box was blueberry muffins and a bonsai tea plant in a cast iron planter, also bubblewrapped. I remember thinking “how am I supposed to get any tea out of this?”
I should probably refrain from drinking large amounts of Poundcake before bed in the future.
Would it be even weirder if I imagined the tree growing lots of little blueberry muffins like fruit
i wasnt reading properly or it didnt register right away but i thought Grill really put in the muffins and added a potted plant to boot. rofl! bubblewrapped ttb did sound sorta logical. but yeah, i remembered to re-read and saw the key word “dream”
