A reason for the rise of Darjeeling prices in the Indian markets is cited is the reduction of fakes entering the market due to the disaster in Nepal.

A reason for some but not Mariage Freres. They raised prices when the first flush Darjeeling started to arrive during the end of March, beginning of April. Before the Earthquake in Nepal.
In their own words:

“Dear Sir,
It’s quite difficult to reply in English to these technical questions about Darjeeling. Please forgive us if our responses look very brief.
Drought: same situation compared to previous years. They harvest less, but it’s somehow better for quality, despite what one might think.
Price: we have kept prices relatively unchanged for 10 years, but we needed to re-adjust. Furthermore, the exchange rate between € and $ is not good, which increases costs all the more.
So far, Puttabong Supreme Spring flush 2015 has been the Darjeeling spring harvest with the most positive feedbacks from tea connoisseurs and experts. I would say that the quality has slightly increased compared to last year’s harvest. We’re still waiting for Arya FF 2015.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,

Totally agree with you there! A steepster member who lives in Darjeeling told us in chat that they expected Darjeeling prices to rise this year back in Feb. They didn’t really go into that many reasons but part of it is changing climate, restructuring within the Industry in India, and demand.
