blended tea vs pure leaf tea, which is your favorite?
what is your opinion about blended vs pure leaf tea?
I like pureleaf Chinese teas, and blended leaf Indian teas for the various UK style black teas I drink.
Either one, but I prefer pure leaf. Will have blended tea with food fairly often.
Is this question about blends with things other than tea or just blended tea? Because it is possible to have what is still pure tea with a blend. As opposed to the sorts of blends Teavana is known for that is.
Thanks Allan, I also tried 4g pu’er Shu with 1g black (Dianhong from Yunnan), it’s really good. UK style blended is ok for me but not like the blended with strong spices flavor (such as cinnamon e.g).
Right Allan, it is e.g. possible to have a blend of Kashmiri Kahva powder (ground Indian spices) along with good quality loose leaf green tea (which can also be made into iced tea).
Vareity is the spice of life.

Some tips for iced tea? using hot water to bru then cool down or just using the cool water? thanks CK. Cheers.
Iced tea
Brew the tea (most teas can be used to make iced teas, just experiment) as you would brew a normal cup of hot tea (preferably in a large glass carafe of one to two litres size).
Honey, spices, berries, and various other flavourings can optionally be added while brewing.
Pour the brew into a glass jar & let it cool down in the open to room temperature.
Refrigerate it.
To serve, pour it into glasses containing a large amount of ice & decorate with a sprig of mint (remember to add more leaf per cup when brewing as it will be diluted while serving due to this extra ice).
Cheers, CK
Just wanted to point out that kahwa is made with whole, not ground spices. You’ll get the most authentic flavor using whole spices (cardamom, cinnamon, clove, saffron, etc) and simmering them instead of simply infusing the tea with the spices.
Pure leaf tea hands down. While there are some blends that I love, 70% of flavored teas are terrible. And that’s not just Teavana but high-end tea shops as well.
There are really awesome pure leaf blended teas.
I agree. Whispering Pines has some wonderful blended teas. I like them as much as the pure leaf teas. What I don’t like most of the time is added flavouring whether natural or artificial.
Agree, I like having plain loose leaf teas, & adding just honey when I make iced or flowery teas (again with loose leafs or equivalent).
Yes, no added artificial flavouring, pure leaf has so many different flavor even with the same tea leaf, because of the different processing (handmake). enjoy it…
