Puerh Storage Techniques

I wanted to get peoples insights and ways you personally store/age puerh. I know some people use the old fridges (pumidors) while others just throw them in boxes in the closet.
Now, i know the basics….dont store in the kitchen near smells or in sunlight. I also know temp and humidity are important.

I would just like to get as many different ways people in the North Americas are doing this.

Thanks.

I have my sheng in a pumidor (the shengidor). My shou is currently living in drawers and boxes on a shelf in boxes. I spread the shou out this weekend on the bed and opened the bedroom windows as it rained most of the weekend was very humid just to give them a little humidity. I am making a shoumidor from a grow tent with a humidifier and fan next.

Hanging out in a dresser with all my other teas. Humidity isn’t controlled because I spend all my time trying to control the humidity in my house and can’t get it below 60% most of the time. Not viable for diehards on long term storage, but I buy to drink not store. Luckily!

Controlled environment sheng and shou, stored separate humidity at 70%.
@Cwyn you are a crazy one just like me.

Brushing those crumbs off the sheets, eh?

I can vouch for mrmopar’s storage, having sampled several of his teas.

I keep everything in puerh storage bags, that way I can brew the “shake”.

Just a handful of cakes on a shelf for the most part, new england climate, definitely way too dry (like 35% humidity in winter and 65%-ish in summer), the tea is noticeably aging, though slowly and maybe a little oddly, and the teas do go dormant to an extant in the dry winters. I really think i should devise something better before next winter.

@mrmopar I would love your advice…. I have started a Pumidor out of a dorm style fridge I have 7 cakes so far. So I am a newbie. :) but have completly fallen for sheng! The humidity is staying around 67% and the temp is 72 degrees. I have one of those computer fans I run for 30 min once a week. I use those sticks that are used in humidors for the humidity. Any other suggestions? Should I try to get the humidity higher? Is the tempature too high? I plan on buying one cake a month to fill up my Pumidor. the smell when I open the door is just so incredible!!

I sadly don’t have nearly enough puerh to warrant a mini-fridge setup or anything.
