Yay for leaning more things more steepster. I have so much to try still! Definitely going to have to try this.

This thread is why I love Steepster. I have bought some from JK Tea shop and found it pretty good, though I got more fannings than expected.

Personally I put this tea in the experimental category. I just like how it starts out as a white tea flavor then turns blacker tea tasting as you steep.

I have some leaf from my last JK Tea shipment I would be happy to share with you. Might have some of that white tea cake verdent shipped a while back to, to spare.

Wow, you rated the Verdant version 100 – I couldn’t possibly take some of that off of you. I also don’t current have any to share. I’ve ordered the cake that AllanK has from Dragon Tea House and some loose from Ebay. I’m still looking, but being in Canada and the crappy state of the Canadian dollar it’s hard to find samples to order than don’t have an insane amount of shipping or you where you don’t have to order a ton.
More than happy to share, I just need to get my hands on some. :)

pfft, I won’t mind. Besides, what is the fun of tea if you can’t share it with anyone. When you get your other orders in lets do a swap so we can taste compare.

I would love to do that. I also have Mandala White Night on route that I ordered before Moonlight registered in my brain. It doesn’t say moonlight – but it really looks like it.
And… I have points at ESGreen and I have teaware there on my wishlist and they have a loose moonlight so this might be a really good time to just go ahead and do that.
Would love to order that one from Puerhshop that several people have mentioned, but their shipping to Canada is outrageous am going to look for another source for it.
LOL so what I’m saying is yes – give me awhile to gather some in and we’ll set something up. :))

And I’m looking at JKTeashop – teaware is really cheap but shipping is not – trying to do the math to see what is the better deal… LOL New obsessions are expensive….

LOL, yes, yes they are. What kind of teaware are you looking at anyways out of curiosity? And yes, I will need a smidgen to gather up my stuff as well. I’m pretty deep in school at the moment. Just PM me when you are ready.

Really want a test tube style tea pot:
http://www.esgreen.com/glass-tea-pot-with-strainer-special-designed-for-gong-fu-style-black-tea-hug.html
Always want white interior cups preferably 50-70ml
http://www.jkteashop.com/double-dragons-embossment-big-tea-cup-60ml-p-365.html
http://www.jkteashop.com/bone-white-porcelain-bowl-shape-cup-60cc-p-359.html
I don’t own glass cups:
http://www.jkteashop.com/borocilicate-big-pu-er-glass-tea-cup-70ml-cup-p-428.html
This teapot is cheap and it’s cute:
http://www.jkteashop.com/250cc-octagonal-bamboo-tea-pot-p-644.html
and you can never have too many glass pitchers:
http://www.esgreen.com/glass-serving-pitcher-squirrel.html

That’s what’s in my carts right now, but I’m still browsing and comparing shipping vs item price…

I have a bit of a teaware addiction problem….

OMG I have the same little teapot. It works great. I have chipped the spout a bit from my own stupidity, but I love it. Cleaning the spout is a bit of a trick though. You should look at their Aliexpress site. For some reason it is sometimes cheaper.

The moonlight tea is 24.00/100g on Aliexpress it’s 6.00/50g on their site.
The teapot is 16.80 on Aliexpress and 6.72 on their site.
All prices are PLUS shipping so it’s not like it’s free shipping on Ali. Thanks for the thought but their site seems LOTS cheaper – wonder why that it….

(Mandala smart soak solves all my cleaning teaware issues – it bubbles and foams and gets into all those tight spots)

Hmmm, my info must be out of date. Oh yeah, I forgot I got some of that stuff when I got some samples from them. Going to have to remember to try it then.

I should NOT HAVE LOOKED on AliExpress – I’m going to order these two cakes too..

I know both those cakes are available for a little bit cheaper from other vendors, but I would rather pay a little more to buy from vendors with excellent ratings and who have sold several of that product with good reviews.
I HAVE TO STOP….

I also love Moonlight White and have tried a few of them. My favorites come from Puerhshop (compressed & aged) and Whispering Pines (loose). I’ve also tried the cake from DTH which was nice, but not nearly as delightful as the one from Puerhshop. And have tried loose versions from JKTeashop, YS, ESGreen, and an Indian version from GTT, all of which were really lovely.
So far I haven’t had one I’ve disliked.

Which cake have you tried? The Zenpuer brick looks pretty good for the $$$

Some of these moonlight teas seem overpriced. $70? In case anyone wants to try Taobao the characters are 月光白茶

$70? Unless it was for a lot and from a reputable dealer, I would pass. Thanks for the characters though. Should be interesting to see what google turns up.

That is what the cake costs that Dexter posted, the Chinese Tea Shop cake.

Dexter said

It’s a full sized cake and it’s amazing. In store they sell sample pieces if you don’t want a whole cake. :)

Yup, and I bought one. It was a lot, but I know I love it and I was able to walk out of the store with it. :)

I have been wanting to try these for a while now but haven’t had the opportunity. I am lucky enough to live in Kansas City where Shang Tea is located and have some of the Brick Aged White Tea that they mentioned in the above post. It is one of the best teas I have ever tried. It is eight years old at this point. Buying an entire brick of that tea is high on my list.
If you have any interest in swapping I would be happy to send you some of that for the sake of comparison. It is made out of the true white tea varietal.

Thanks John – really appreciate it – I replied to your PM. :)

Streetshop88 has a lot of White Tea Cakes and Berylleb has a couple. Most of these are not advertised as “Moonlight” cakes. I’ve got a sample of a 2008 cake from Streetshop88 I have yet to try, this one.

I also have a sample on the way from Berylleb of a white tea cake.

I received my Mandala order today including White Night. I’m not sure this is what I’m thinking of as Moonlight – but as discussed there are a lot of grey around this style.
