My first variable temp kettle... is it normal to smell hot plastic?

Hi! As is the title, i recently unwrapped my first variable temp kettle. The brand is Aroma, the body is stainless steel with minimal plastic on/in it. I have not used it myself yet, but my girlfriend has, and i noticed that the pour spout emits a hot plastic odor. Is this normal, will it go away, and will this affect the taste of the tea i make with the heated water? Any thoughts are appreciated.

It’s just because it is new. I have the Aroma color changing one and love it.

I find new products often have that smell. I suggest washing it and maybe a baking soda scrub to get rid of that “new kettle” smell.

I had a Hamilton Beach stainless that only had plastic on the level view window. It had an odor when I got it. The directions said to toss the first four pots of water. I think I ended up tossing NINE. But the kettle served me well for four years after that.
