Vancouver Tea Events?!
Hey Vancouver tea people! I found an event that’s taking place March 15th.
http://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-finer-palate-of-tea-tickets-15426373699?aff=VancouverTeaSociety
Anyone interested in going? It looks like it could be neat, although there isn’t a tonne of info. I was thinking of doing either the black tea tasting or the semi-oxidized tea tasting.
O5 also seems to do monthly-ish tea tastings, but they tend to be a bit more expensive. But if anyone wants to have company checking out one of their events (not the alcohol ones, I don’t like to drink much) then let me know!
This is the first I’ve heard of Palate Tea and this event! How did you hear about it? I’d go to this (me being Tegan – I’m a co-founder of Amoda).
I think that O5 had a link to Palate Tea’s website which is where I found the info? Or they mentioned the company somewhere and I googled. Haha. I really need to buy my ticket. I’ll do that tomorrow. :)
I’m finding that pretty much none of the Vancouver tea events are well advertised. Small companies in the community really need to start cross-promoting. I’d love to help but my FB is rather minuscule. :)
Having a hard time making a decision….. How much tea would I buy in 3.5 days in Vancouver?
You could potentially buy a lot. Or you could buy a little and know I could hook you up with stuff in the future.
I know you would hook me up :)) It’s just fun to browse and look and talk to the staff etc. I don’t really get to do that here.
I’m just having a hard time justifying the money for a weekend…
On the other hand I haven’t been anywhere in a few years, would really like to just get away for a few days…
You do! Eenie meeenie miney moe. You sure you want to come to Vancouver instead of somewhere tropical? :)
I’m not really the tropical type – tropical is not even a consideration….
Minneapolis on the other hand…. but I’ve been there dozens of times – but not since I really got into tea – haven’t done the Verdant/Mandala thing.
But Minneapolis is more of a summer thing – wouldn’t go in March… so…. what else should I do on vacation?
Silly girl – Paris is not going to happen…. LOL having a hard time justifying the money to go to Vanc for the weekend – Paris is out of the question :))
When will there be another “event” in Vancouver to use as an excuse to go…. and will that “event” be at a time when I can go…. ??? I should say screw the money and just go – I’m just more of a planner – even three weeks planning is out of my comfort zone…
:(( I can’t go 24Apr….
If there is a festival in the fall – that’s a long time from now – could go back if this is fun…
AAAAHHHHHHhhhhhh I need to make a decision…
well if you’re only going for a weekend, i’m also there the following weekend haha
fall won’t be doable for me this year with the wedding…but you know i could totally get you an invite to that hahaha
Do Vancouver now – and find an excuse to go to TO in the summer/fall…. hmmmm that’s a thought (not sure the wedding would be the appropriate excuse – it’s a time for you and your family/friends)
haha says you! you’re my tea friend! “and how do you know sarah….uuuhhh i send her tea in the mail? and she sends me tea? and we talk about tea and teaware and life is good..”
LOL – receiving line – Sil says hubby “who is that?” Hubby says to Sil “I don’t know must be one of those weird tea people you invited…” :))
ian would be more like…. bad sil thats one of your very special tea friends we invited INSTEAD of my dear uncle what’s his face..
My in-laws forced me to invite two people I didn’t know to our very small wedding – 50 invitees and we had been together for ten years. I firmly felt that if we had no contact in ten years you didn’t need to be there, but it wasn’t worth the fight after a few weeks. They were the only people to not turn up. People are weird about weddings…
Uniquity, that reminds me of a friend of mine who married into an Italian family. She was panicking as the guest list got larger and larger, mostly with people she had never even heard of much less know, her mother in law simply told her not to worry about it as she was picturing herself in debt for the rest of her life. In the end her wedding more than paid for itself.
We had a very inexpensive wedding, but we had very few gifts as well. A number of our friends didn’t give gifts for whatever reason, and our families aren’t very affluent. It was a lot of fun though..and I didn’t realize about the gifts until someone made a similar observation. We were an anomaly! :D
heh our wedding will be much more like yours uniquity. I’d be shocked if we “made money” on our wedding…hell if we get more than a couple gifts i’ll be shocked – suspect those will come from family not travelling out to attend the actual wedding. Im ok with that though since it’s a small wedding and the only people coming are friends and family…none of that sister’s uncles best friends hairdresser stuff heh
OK I booked a flight and a ticket to the event – I guess I’m going to Vancouver… :))
It’s gonna be great! Dex is going to enable me in tea pot buying. And now buying a cake of something won’t be so scary because we can share. :D
I would have liked to go in April when Sil is going, but that didn’t work for me. Maybe someday we can all get our schedules worked out….. Until then OMGsrsly gets to have two visits :))
(is it strange that I thought I should pack a pu’erh pick in case I wanted to share a cake….)
I think that’s a great idea! But I also think that the tea shop will accommodate us for splitting it up…
(I think I might have a 24 hour head start on shopping – who knows what might happen in that time….)
