New Teapot!! cant decide on seasoning...
I recently acquired a new 135ml tea pot. its purple clay (zisha) and has a dragon shape with a little frog friend on him, very whimsical. If I could post pics I would. I need help deciding on what to season him with. Any input would help. So many choices and I have become over whelmed and indecisive…
Congrats on the new addition! I would go with whatever type of unflavored tea you drink most often. That way, you’ll be sure that your pot will be thoroughly seasoned. Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be super specific. For example, you can do greener rolled oolongs instead of focusing just on Tie Guan Yin or all cliff teas instead of just Da Hong Pao.
Don’t feel like you’re super locked in either. Try a few different teas in the pot and see what suits it best. Letting the pot decide can sometimes work out for the best. It takes a ton of regular use to really season the pot so you have time to figure it out.
You might find this article that I wrote for The Daily Tea helpful :)

Well I already have a sheng pot and a rolled oolong, I think I will “let the pot decide”. I have never heard that expression but I really like how it sounds :)
Sympathize with the problem. I have a 150ml pot that I haven’t dedicated yet either.
My other pots I seemed to know instantaneously how I wanted to use it but this one just eludes me.
I recently bought my first pot, and dedicated it to oolongs. It works perfectly and I have become really fond of my lovely little teapot. Never thought I would get so used to a yixing pot :)
Now that I find the pot easy to use, I plan on buying a second one for my
pu ehr tea. (for which I know use a kamjove 200ml. gong fu teapot).
When I bought my yixing pot, I too pondered about what to dedicate it to, until one morning, I just seasoned it and it has worked miracles since. Just go wih your heart…
Its a very difficult thing hahah, I’m hoping someday it will just come to me :/
