If you drink bottled Argo Tea
So this just popped up on my Tumblr dash and I figured I’d pass the link along for anyone here who might drink the bottled Argo tea. I’m not sure if this is for /every/ bottle, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to post it.
I was grossed out so I googled it and it seems to be an ongoing issue with them. A few complaints to them in the last few months on Facebook at least. I understand how it could happen, but it’s still yucky!
….so it is just Kombucha now, right? I kid, I kid, but yeah, that looks unfortunate. The first one could be sediment since it is all berry flavored, but the other one looks very much like stringy mold forming a lovely colony.
I am half tempted to buy one and see how it develops, but I have a thing for molds and fungi.
Nasty…. stupid American companies and their greediness not pulling them off the market. Someone probably saying oh well.. that wont get that sick or something stupid….
The owners of Argo aren’t American, but I’m not sure what that has to do with anything. The bottled teas are definitely being pulled off the shelves. They stopped being sold at Argo stores a while ago. Once the bottles leave Argo it’s up to the resellers to remove them from sale. Especially if it’s only certain batches which are problematic it probably takes a while to figure out which ones need to be pulled and find out where they are/which companies need to be contacted.
It seems more like they’re just poor business owners than outright greedy…
For those who are grossed out, this actually happens quite a bit with bottled tea. I’m not sure why since I don’t see it coming up with other types of bottled drinks, but it’s happened to pretty much every brand of bottled tea you can think of (just Google “Honest Tea/Arizona/Gold Peak etc. mold”) It’s best to pour it into a glass first if you’re worried.
