Tea Box Swapping

I’ve been thinking about putting together a tea Box Swapping thread for a while, but it took me a while to decide how best to run it. In the meantime, I’ve put together a couple other TTB’s so I’ll have to wait for some orders to come in before I can put together a box myself, but the beauty of this is we only need a couple people who are interested in trading to get things moving.

To participate:
1. Put together a box of tea that weighs between 8 and 16 oz. It is recommended that you pick a theme for your box (ie oolong tea, fruit-flavored tea, decaf tea, Chinese tea, tea from a particular company, teabags) Choose a name for your box that reflects your theme.
-If you do not have enough tea for a full box of your desired theme, name your box “Desired Theme/Misc. Teas”. If you receive one of these boxes, feel free to try anything, but please only keep Misc. Teas and add at least one tea of the desired type.
2. Comment here with the name of your box, the state you live in, and the names of the boxes you are interested in.
3. Find someone to swap with. Exchange addresses with the person you are swapping with.
4. Send out your box in the mail. Comment here when you mail out a box and when you receive a box.
5. Sample teas from your new box. Keep what you like. Add tea if desired, making sure to keep the box’s weight between 8 and 16oz.
6. Repeat steps 3-5.

It’s that simple. I’ll keep an updated list here with who has what box, so that everyone knows where the boxes they want are.

-This club will be US only.
-Shipping costs should be about $5. If you ever get a shipping quote over $6, you can always opt to move the tea to a small-sized flat rate box.
-Please either send the tea in its original packaging or make sure that it is labeled with the tea name and company. Recommended steeping parameters are also appreciated.
-Please make sure to package teas appropriately so that strongly scented teas do not contaminate the other teas, and so that no teas escape and wander the box while in the mail. Do not include tins, since they’ll add too much to the weight.
- Please replace a box if it becomes damaged.
