We've Passed the 1/4 Mark!
Good luck with this! I’ll definitely be making a pledge. I’m surprised that the $1000 pledge is the only one that includes a one year subscription. It seems like that is an incentive that people might be willing to pay more for, and it seems like it’s what makes 52teas what it is – it’s right there in the name.
Thank you – I appreciate your well wishes and any help you can offer! We are really excited about the prospect of it.
I had more one year subscription incentives but after consulting with Frank, he told me that it would create headaches for me in the future because I’d need to keep track of subscriptions from two different places and that made sense to me. Even though I’m not going to be the one who is handling that end of things – my daughter will keep all that organized – I figure she didn’t need additional confusion either.
I kept the 1 one-year subscription in there because I figured it wouldn’t be difficult to keep track of 1 one-year subscription, but to keep track of a bunch like that would cause additional confusion.
I’m not sure if the reward tiers are going to cover their own packaging and shipping expenses in addition to the tea, unless the intent is to give away the tea. I would have expected an entry level of $12 for the half-ounce, $20 for the 1 1/2 oz, and $35 for something like “half-oz, pick three.”
I’ve seen Kickstarter projects go down in angry flames with full refunding because the project owner did not account for shipping, packaging, and/or shelf life.
I really hope this gets funded for you – but what happens if it doesn’t? Would this go forward anyway, or is it all based on the kickstarter? If you could get the exploding kittens guys to mention you, you would be set!!
I just backed them yesterday. My kiddos were laughing hysterically at the game.
I am not a fan of purchasing online and I have no experience with kickstarter but I SO want the exploding kittens game. $3.5 million in three days!
My brother is big into card games/board games. He told me about it. It looked so awesome that I had to back them. I couldn’t believe their success either! Its almost $3.7 now. You can literally watch their pledged amount go up.
Is there artificial flavouring in 52Teas? I was considering contributing but I have trouble tolerating artificial flavouring.
This is an issue for me too. Not so much that it’s physically upsetting to me that there’s artificial flavoring in a tea but I want the flavoring to be all natural and of course, vegan. I’ve also recently learned that flavoring can have gluten in it, if you can believe that! I was astounded by that.
Anyway, I’ve been in contact with several suppliers of flavorings, and I seek out only flavorings that are:
Natural
Organic
Vegan
Gluten-Free
Because I know that these are important issues for the customers. I hope that this answers your question?
Thanks Libertea. That sort of answers my question for any future purchases. I am definitely glad you will only seek out the natural, organic, vegan & gluten free ones ( I never knew some flavourings had gluten in them either!) What about the teas that are being offered for the pledge? Or for future purchases, how will I know if the tea is all natural (nothing artificial)? Won’t you still have some of Frank’s blends up on the website?
I don’t know how much of Frank’s inventory I’ll be receiving so I can’t answer that question adequately. My approach to the inventory on hand is that I will probably make mention on the website that this is “previous” inventory, just so that people know what was blended by me and what was blended by Frank.
For me, part of that is the artistry. I wouldn’t want someone taking credit for something that I did, I’m also an artist (mixed media, not just tea!) and I wouldn’t be cool with someone claiming my work as their own, so I won’t claim someone else’s work as mine.
For all blends and reblends that I craft, I will seek out the flavorings that are natural, organic, vegan and gluten-free. If for some reason the flavoring isn’t one of these, I will mention it on the website because I want people to know what they’re having.
Our first labels might not list ingredients, so ingredients will be found online. I say this because our original plan was to buy preprinted labels and write the name of the tea on the labels. It will be pretty labor intensive after a while so we’re only planning this for maybe the first run of 2000 labels or something, especially since we’ve got a great lead on a used label printer (they’re crazy expensive when bought new!) But as we won’t know how much time we’ll have to receive the used printer and how much time it will take for us to become acclimated with the device (I’m really rather un-savvy when it comes to technology) we think it might be best for us (time wise) to go with the writing the name on the label technique (it’s an age-old technology that’s been passed down) but to also write the ingredients would be … even more time consuming. (I was going to say something different, but I thought “even more time consuming” was much more polite language than what I was going to say.)
Anyway, I hope all that garble answered your question.
LIberTEAS – I too happily backed your project and looking forward to seeing what you make. I have another comment about the international shipping that you may need to address. The shipping added to my pledge was $9. This is fine as I am aware of the actual (and sadly expensive) shipping costs. I assume this is for the one pouch promised in the incentive. However, if I pledged for multiples of the same incentive (say $30 on the $10 incentive)…you are actually going to be sending me 3 pouches, correct. In this case, is $9 still for all 3 pouches? If not, what is the correct shipping cost (hopefully not 3x$9…?) and how will I pay it.
If you are pledging for multiples of the same incentive, it won’t increase the shipping. (At least, I’m pretty sure it won’t.) Because as far as Kickstarter will be aware at that point is that you’ve purchased 1 incentive, not more than one, and that you just wish to contribute more. So I don’t think that the shipping will be increased.
Based on what I am able to estimate (based on USPS.com’s figures) The shipping for 3 of the pouches would probably be about $12. So, if you were adding an additional $20 for 2 more pouches, add another $3 onto it for the shipping, making it a $33 pledge and then the $9 in shipping would also be added.
Oh, I know that Kickstarter doesn’t multiply the shipping costs, as I thought of this only after I’d already pledged (that $9 wasn’t the correct amount for 3 pouches).
What I was wondering about were the actual shipping costs. $12 is also fine, but how do I send you the difference? Through Kickstarter or do you want to send me a separate invoice?
I just saw Aprils teas, they look good!
I’d love to get April’s Teas and a choice/option to get a reblend or two. Would I just add $5 (or $10, thinking larger size) per reblend? There’s no reward tier for this unless I want the tote/tumbler. Maybe others would like a reward tier to include Reblends + April’s tea too without the tote/tumbler?
I can add another reward tier that would allow for the April Teas plus a choice for 1 of the large size reblend, and then with each additional reblend you want to have, just add an additional 10 onto your pledge. I’ll go do that now. It should be up in a few minutes. :)
We are only $16 from our first $2K milestone – which means that contributors get to vote on a new reblend!
Pledged. I haven’t tried many 52teas, so this is a really good opportunity to try some of the most popular ones.
I pledged as well, and I also shared the link on facebook. I don’t know if that will help, but I hope you meet your goal.
