Hoooooookay. This time I will finish posting for this year. I was so ashamed of myself last year o///o
Projected budget: $200 – maximum
January total: $0
I feel good about myself! The first month I’ve spent nothing on tea since June or July.
March total: $0
I’m planning an order (or two max.) in April.
I made three orders ._.
One was a planned Upton order, and two were Teavivre.
The first Teavire is my birthday gift to myself (I bought my very first tea tray), while the second was more spontaneous…..I spent more on teaware than tea actually, bulk of the money on the tea tray.
Utpon: $25.06
Teavivre 1: $90.00
Teavivre 2: $22.00
April and yearly total: $137.06
If I’m only counting tea then it’s $40.96.
I spontaneously spent…rounding up to $40 in May for the 52Teas clearance sale.
Tea total comes to: 80.96.
Made orders at Crimson Lotus and Verdant. Again, not counting teaware.
July total: $145.96.
I made my Teavivre anniversary order, and then a spontaneous order with Steepster because I wanted to snag a closing box.
Total, as of August: $176
September: $0
Yearly total: $176
I’m envious of people who can keep their tea spending under 4 figures XD
There’s so much I want to buy but it’s all best with gongfu. I can’t drink tea like that at work. Also, I need to be good about saving up money for life. It really helps to plan future orders and to stick with them and only them :3
I spent more on teaware than tea this year Dx
Buy a kamjove for work… It works perfectly. I drink puerh at work and my wonderful oolongs
I’m actually more than content with an infuser mug and brewing Western style. Wouldn’t I need to get up constantly from my desk to get hot water? I don’t think we’re allowed kettles at our desks.
I drink pu’erh and only get up to pee.
I use a Zojirushi thermos. I also use it when I go hiking, it keeps water within 10 degrees for a solid 10 hours with n problem.
Oh gosh, I don’t think your reply showed in my notifications back then x_x
Thanks! I’ll look into Zojirushi thermoses. Seems like excellent quality.
What I hear from many tea friends not being able to finish most teas they’ve bought is the biggest reason why they often go over their budget. The same holds for me…Recently, I am exploring Indian teas, but I just bought way to many…
This year I am trying to order smaller bags, and sometimes try samples first.
Uhmm, I should probably start this..
No planned budget this year but keeping track..

I’m not counting a weird order I placed with Chawang Shop on February 8 because they haven’t billed me for it or shipped it. Perhaps I got caught in the Chinese new year but it seems like an awfully long delay.
I really only buy tea from DAVIDsTEA, so I’m going to use my Frequent Steeper points balance as my total. Someone posted about Pretty Tea in another thread, though, so I’ll be very tempted to try them out.

I am not going to revise the overall budget, because even if I end up going over I’d like to know the disparity between my expectation and reality. Two very different worlds if this is any indication…
Edit: Favorite tea companies with my favorite teas, please stop closing. I can’t afford to keep stocking up. Though with Butiki and Tea Setter gone, maybe I will spend less overall? Probably not.
Feb Update
A day early but I’m not spending a cent on tea the last day of this month! Very clearly, a budget is not going guilt me into a spending freeze… I’m already way over budget and that’s even when I’m cheating and not including teaware… Oh dear!!

Update: I have thrown the fake budget I made out the window. I knew when I made it that I would be surpassing it eventually. Just didn’t think that it would only take me 3 months… heh.
I’ve decided to give tea as gifts for teachers, coworkers, etc. because I think tea is a great, somewhat unusual gift… and…. I earn reward points from DavidsTea :):):)
