Teas & Tisanes

This is one of my favourite teas, but it wasn’t as good as usual this time. The first brew was a bit weaker than it should have been, and the second didn’t have as much flavour as I wanted even though I steeped it for a bit longer than usual. I’m getting near the end of my current stash, so it might be time to forget about this lot of leaves and get some new ones.

Was drinking this over the weekend. One of those teas I never grow tired of.

Delicate, distinctive and complex. Every time I have this, I wonder why I haven’t come back to it sooner.

I sent a friend some of this as a get well present, and so then I needed to have some, too. One of my very favourite green teas.

I was in the mood for a Chinese green today, and this is one of the best I have. A sweet, delicate tea that I can drink a lot of.

The leaves are distinctively flat and green, and make a pale yellow-green brew. This is a very delicate green tea with a mild malty taste to it, and a sweeter aftertaste than any other green tea I’ve tried. I like this one a lot.

I keep trying, but I don’t think I’ll ever really get the appeal of rooibos. I like this one slightly better than the Rooibos Peach Cream I tried recently, but it still seems very lacking in flavour to me.

I’m really addicted to sencha at the moment so when I somehow happened to be going past the local tea shop this morning – no idea how that happened g – I ended up with a packet of this. This makes a typical sencha yellow-coloured brew, and you can really smell the strawberry and raspberry in it. The fruit taste isn’t overpowering, but somehow it does leave a fairly bitter aftertaste, even when making sure that the water is the right temperature for green tea.

This is my least favourite of the sencha blends I’ve tried recently. It’s not awful, but I’d much rather have a cup of Sencha Honey or Lime and Coconut than revisit this one.

This tea is okay. It’s nothing special, and there’s nothing much about it worth noting.

Had some of this last night at the end of a really busy day. A great tea to unwind with.

Having a cup of this to get rid of the lingering aftertaste of the Imperial Oolong.

I’ve been drinking so much sencha lately that I took the plunge and bought a kyuusu. It’s taken me a couple of goes to get the brew exactly as I like it but I think I’m going to love using it for this tea. A special tea pot for a favourite tea.

The lime and coconut flavours are really nicely balanced in this. I like it almost as much as Sencha Honey. Definitely a keeper.

The taste is sweet enough not to disappoint the expectations provided by the scent, which is just like the cocktail. This tea left a slight afterburn, but that may just have been because I left it to steep a bit longer than I’d intended, and ended up with a deep blood red brew. Overall, I liked it more than I expected.

This has a really nice fruity scent. I wish the taste of the quince was equally strong in the tea itself. Still a nice cup of tea.

A great balance of China Gunpowder and mint. Produces a medium brown brew. An excellent stomach-settler.
